BLSA welcomed the Flying Dutchman this weekend for a two day event including a social at Hanna Creek Saturday after the races. The weekend provided decent wind and a good time at the cookout after on Saturday. Below are the results for the races which are not part of the official BLSA results but are still races!

BLSA Fall Race 8 results
Today we had some pretty interesting wind. Forecast was for a solid 7kts with 16kt gusts, however we started at 1pm to maybe 5kts with varying winds most of the way down to the bridge.
Rounding the causeway buoy to port proved quite the challenge with the south easterly winds. Once around wind mostly provided a broad reach to the finish.
Fall Races 6/7 Results
We had four boats participating in two short races as the front moved in on Sunday. There was moderate wind and some rain at the very end. Walter Frank (longtime member) and Dan CaJacob provided committee duty. Congratulations to Bill Settle and crew for taking first place in both races. I think we all had a great time!
Fall Races 4/5 – Pursuit
Decent wind allowed two races to happen today. No committee boat required since it was a pursuit race. The course started from just outside the no wake zone just north of Hanna, and the South marker was the first Kent’s Harbor no wake buoy.
Fall August 3rd Races 1-3 Results
Thanks to all who participated in yesterday’s first Fall series races. The wind was light for the first race but built up to 10-12 knots by the third. Yes, we were able to get 3 races in. So we have one in the bank in case we have light wind race days later in the series. I think I speak for all when I say that we had a great time. Special thanks to the crewing guest appearances, including Steve Tacy, Steve Milby, John Doerner, and Guy Hemmer!
Also many thanks to Patty and Bill Beglin for their excellent performance as Race Committee! Participating boats included Patty Anne (Dan and Heidi Loughran with visiting relatives as crew), Lady Di (Pat Burke with his brother in law as crew and mentored by a very experienced racer, Guy Hemmer), Red (Bill Settle with Steve Tacy as crew), and Isabel (Dan CaJacob with Steve Milby and John Doerner as crew). Results will be posted soon. Sorry for the inconvenience to anyone for the last minute race day change. Fair winds!
July 14th Make-up Races
Today it looked like we would have 7 boats trying to finish out the seaon with a bank. Forecast was looking decent for wind. As Sunday came around the forecast had some chances of storms and only 4 showed up. During race one someone noticed a nasty line of storms heading across the region and it was decided to just have one more race for the day. Everyone made it home without any incident even though the weather, yet again cut the day short.
June 23rd Race 4 and 5 Results
Today there was plenty of wind but only 2 boats could make it and race. With just two boats we kept it simple and scored finish position, pretty hard to compete with the J70 on flat water and lots of wind
June 16th 2024 Race and Results
Father’s day bridge to bridge is a pursuit race, and we will be using the following starting order. On-Water communications is VHF 69.
Please find the results of the Fathers Day Bridge to Bridge below. Winds were light and variable (Race day and appreciable wind seems hard to come by) but we were able to get most of the boats across the finish line. One DNF mostly due to misunderstanding of the turn-around marker.
June 9th, 2024 Race 2 and 3 Results
Race 2 and 3 happened today and much to everyone’s delight we had a lot of wind. It was still quite variable with some pretty intense gusts but we had some racing. I (Dallace) completely borked Race 1 by not understanding the course, so I missed the last marker. Race 2, I lagged a bit behind the only other contender (Skyp) but thanks to my USPN Handicap, pulled out the victory!
Terrible Racecourse drawing followed by the results.
Spring 2024 Bridge to Bridge Pursuit Race
Not a lot to talk about here other than The Mighty O’Day pulls out the win. There was little to no wind, but with the Slowest to Fastest start, the O’day got a 15 minute jump and saw the only real wind and managed 1.19 miles in 1h and 42 minutes. But nobody else really made it out of Hanna Creak.
